The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for verifying and producing material takeoffs and also measuring and checking installed quantities for progress measurement, changes, statistics, taxation and valuation while adhering to high standards in a timely manner.
Review estimates to an appropriate level of detail to support the review of contractors claims and change order requests;
Ensure all contractor work meets NWR standards and procedures;
Analyze contractor claims with regards to installed quantities and scope;
Review and verify total installed quantities for all disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation through regular review of contractor work;
Collect and assemble benchmarking data;
Validate installed items for Unit Rate contract progress payments;
Assist contract administrators in measurements for bills of quantities and also assist in tender or bid evaluations;
Verify and record all quantities completed in the field for each type of contract (lump sum, unit price and cost reimbursement).

Typically 5 to 10 years of related industry experience and/or a relevant Quantity Surveying Degree, Engineering Degree, or other Bachelor's Degree;
Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Various engineering disciplines such as civil, structural, piping, electrical, etc.
- Construction/engineering drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, plot plans, one-line diagrams, isometrics, etc.
- Estimating software such as KBase (Icarus), in addition to Microsoft Office Suite
- Estimating packages.
Must be a team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance;
Must have strong problem solving and investigative skills and an ability to ask questions to draw out required information;
Must utilize excellent written communication skills, as well as superior verbal communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for a variety of audiences;
Advanced skills with computer applications (including MS Excel) and knowledge of database maintenance;
Knowledge of principles, practices and standards of Quantity Surveying including interface experience and various levels of an organization;
Demonstrated ability to understand the Quantity Surveying function, processes, and strategies and link to business goals.
